Radiant cut diamonds are distinctive due to their trimmed corners which makes them very similar to the emerald cut. These diamonds are very widely used as they are extremely versatile.
Radiant diamonds are usually rectangular and this cut is a combination of the step-cutting of an emerald cut together with some of the triangular faceting of the brilliant cut.
The length-to-width ratio will determine the diamond’s outline and how it will appear when viewed from the top. For a square radiant diamond shape it is advisable to look for length-to-width ratios of between 1 and 1.05. Should you require a more rectangular shape, look for length-to-width ratios greater than 1.10.
When used as a solitaire radiant cut diamonds are dramatic, and when paired with side stones such as baguettes, trillions and princess shapes these diamonds can be quite spectacular.
It is essential that this diamond has a setting with special prongs in order to hold the trimmed corners safely and securely.
