Round cut diamonds are certainly the most popular diamond cut. This is partially due to the fact that the round-brilliant cut is undoubtedly the most optically brilliant diamond, and the sparkle is caused by its 360-degree symmetrical shape.

A round brilliant cut diamond is an excellent choice if your goal is to have the greatest sparkle together with an enduring classical shape. The round diamond shape has been cut for centuries which means it is among the oldest and most traditional cuts.

The round silhouette is suitable for virtually every setting, from classic solitaires to the most avant-garde designs. Round cut diamonds may be set into four or six prongs, depending on the design of the setting, or into bezel mountings. A bezel mounting is a metal band that surrounds the edge of the diamond in order to hold it safely and securely within the setting. Generally speaking, whenever the round brilliant diamond is an Ideal cut or Very Good cut, it is recommended that the setting have the minimum amount of metal surrounding the stone. The diamond should be held security but the metal should not cover too much of the beautiful diamond as it will block light from entering the stone and this will reduce its potential sparkle.
