Diamonds, the most expensive gemstones in the world, are mainly of two types: natural and synthetic. Quite naturally, the gemstones are considered to be exquisite because they are quite rare.  It takes millions and millions of years and a great deal of geological pressure in order to form a natural diamond and only 20% of these naturally occurring diamonds are used in jewellery creation.
